May 21, 1861 - Mustered into the Union army in Jacksonville, Illinois.
June 28, 1861 - On the Mississippi River at Quincy, Illinois.
July 1861 - St. Charles & Missouri (north of St. Louis).
October 1, 1861 - Was at Tipton, Missouri (west of Jefferson City).
November 3, 1861 - Was in Springfield, Missouri.
February 1862 - Sedonia, Missouri (straight north of Springfield).
February 1862 - Ottonville, Missouri.
February 1862 - St. Louis, Missouri.
February 1862 - Fort Donaldson, Tennessee. Captured the fort. This was the first victory for Ulysses S. Grant's army.
March 14 & 17, 1862 - Crump's Landing & Pittsburgh Landing.
April 6 & 7, 1862 - Battle of Shiloh. This was the first major battle of the Civil War. In his own words they "fought all day on 40 acres, and by night the men could not touch the ground for it was covered with so many dead bodies".
April 29 through May 30 - ce & Siege of Corinth, Mississippi.
June 1 through 12 - Marched on Memphis, Tennessee.
June 13, 1862 - Ordered to Vicksburg. The Seige of Vicksburg lasted from May 22, 1862 through July 4, 1862.
July 10 through 17, 1862 -Seige of Jackson, Mississippi. The assualt took place on July 12, 1862.
August 15, 1862 through November 11, 1862 - Natchez, Mississippi. During this time (the documentation is not legible in this section) up to October 31, 1862 he was somehow working on the Mississippi Central Railroad between Bolivar, Mississippi and Coffeeville, Mississippi.
November 10, 1862 - Stationed at Vicksburg.
May 1863 - Duty at Memphis, Tennessee.
November 10, 1863 through February 1, 1864 - Duty at Vicksburg.
October 21, 1863 - Invalid. (something was wrong with his eye -according to my uncle Curtis).
June 24, 1864 - Mustered out of the Union Army.
